Our Twin Themes

This graphic is a combination of the 'twin themes' of our Gospel Advertising Campaign:

• From our church perspective: we are wanting to 'Do Something More For God';

• As far as 'the man in the street' is concerned, the message is:

"CONSIDER CHRIST:

In a world without Direction, He is The Way;

In a world without Certainty, He is The Truth;

In a world without Hope, He is The Life."

The logo is striking and effective. I had a bunch of browser tabs open and closed a lot of them, and one had the logo - and I thought "wow!" when I saw it. Should have a lot of impact! Outstanding design.

WHY THIS BLOG?

Rev. J. H. Moore, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Connor, Northern Ireland, was a great believer in appointing his members to some definite work in the church.

He urged some of his more promising young men to, "Do something more for God," and suggested, "Could you not gather at least six of your careless neighbours ... and spend an hour with them in reading and searching the Word of God?"

The young men were James McQuilkin, John Wallace, and Robert Carlisle.

They responded favourably to the challenge to attempt "something more."

Together with Jeremiah Meneely, they commenced the Tannybrake Sunday school, followed by a Bible Class for the parents of the children.

In the autumn of 1857, the teachers of this little school again did "something more." These four men started the prayer meeting that became the harbinger of the 1859 Revival.

Greatly encouraged by what God had done through the prayers of George Muller, they learned the secret of true intercession – and, "the Spirit of God came pouring into this newly-opened channel. 'Christ and the Cross' became the one absorbing theme of the gathering ... ."

Soon 100,000 souls were brought to saving faith in Christ.

This 150th Anniversary year of the 1859 Revival presents us with a golden opportunity, "To Do Something More For God."

A large scale Gospel Advertising Campaign in Northern Ireland began in September 2009. Adverts appeared on buses and billboards, and Gospel literature was distributed province-wide (both by use of the Royal Mail door-to-door facility and through dedicated church outreach teams).

Plans are now in motion to take this evangelistic effort into the 'Border Counties' of Ireland in Autumn 2010. Every home in Counties Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Cavan and Louth will receive Gospel literature; numerous advertising outlets will also be employed to proclaim the Good News of the Gospel.

Much work still needs to be done. And there is ample opportunity for you to become involved.

The purpose of this blog is to create awareness of this campaign and to update each person who reads it with vital information as to how the campaign is progressing.

May we enthusiastically rise to the challenge of getting the Gospel to our fellow countrymen and close neighbours.
